Kuan-Kin-Yu Lian, The Beauty
& Philosophy of Tea
While talking about the tea ceremony, the quiet and graceful
teacher Lian could not help herself speaking with passion
and happiness. Lian loves tea, loves the culture of tea,
and also loves the art of tea. So, when did Lian get her
initial interest in the tea ceremony?
Tea ceremony is a philosophy of tasting the best flavors
in light teas, and experiencing the extraordinary tea
next to the ordinary. Lian said In the past, when
I felt low and depressed, I would go shopping to release
the stress. But it didnt work. After encountering
the tea ceremony six years ago, I now feel that tea is
such an interesting thing, and that it has an deep philosophy
behind it. Within the aesthetics of the display, the taste
of the tea, and the harmonious atmophere in tea, I find
peace with myself and gain a clear heart. Life is simpler,
pressure is released, and I find myself happier also.
Tea ceremony is not just about making tea, but through
the balance of the tea leave, water, and pot to find the
taste of life.
The design of a tea ceremony setting is
usually inspired by four seasons. From flower, vase, table
clothe, teapot, to tea,
everything needs come together in a harmonious balance
to complete a design.
